In a heartfelt tribute to its founder, the Yash Chopra Foundation (YCF), the philanthropic arm of Yash Raj Films, has announced the launch of the YCF Scholarship Program today, coinciding with the 92nd birth anniversary of the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra. This transformative initiative is aimed at supporting the children of Hindi film industry members from low-income backgrounds, ensuring that these unsung heroes—who form the backbone of the industry—are not overlooked.
To qualify for this life-changing opportunity, workers must be registered members of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The scholarship program will provide comprehensive financial assistance to deserving candidates, enabling them to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in various fields, including Mass Communication, Filmmaking, Production & Direction, Visual Arts, Cinematography, and Animation. Each selected student can receive support of up to INR 5 lakhs, a substantial investment aimed at bridging the educational gap for talent within the film fraternity.
Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, commented on this initiative, stating, “The legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra always believed in giving back to the Hindi film industry in whichever way possible. His philosophy is ingrained in our company’s culture. So, on his 92nd birth anniversary, we are happy to embark on a mission to empower kids of the Hindi film fraternity. We are confident that this initiative will inspire and empower deserving students to follow their dreams and subsequently make a mark in our film industry.”
The scholarship program will feature a personalized interview process for selected candidates, with financial aid awarded to those who successfully meet the criteria. Through this initiative, the Yash Chopra Foundation continues to honor Yash Chopra’s legacy, empowering the next generation of filmmakers and creatives in the Hindi film industry.
