Angelina Jolie has officially withdrawn her lawsuit against the Department of Justice and the FBI regarding the infamous 2016 plane incident involving her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. This marks the conclusion of a long-standing legal battle for the Oscar-winning actress.

Reports say the court documents reveal that the dismissal of the case was finalized "with prejudice," meaning Jolie cannot reopen the case in the future. Both sides have agreed to cover their own legal expenses and fees.

The lawsuit, initially filed by Jolie in April 2022 under the alias "Jane Doe," was part of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. Jolie was seeking the release of FBI documents related to an alleged domestic violence incident that took place aboard a private jet. In her claims, she accused Pitt of verbally and physically assaulting her and their children during a flight from Europe to Los Angeles on September 14, 2016, resulting in what she described as "lasting physical and mental trauma."

These allegations echoed details from an FBI report following the flight, which had previously come to light. Despite the gravity of the accusations, federal authorities chose not to press charges against Pitt, who has steadfastly denied the claims.

In her FOIA lawsuit, Jolie argued that access to the FBI documents was vital for her children’s well-being, specifically to provide them with appropriate medical care and trauma counseling. She also sought to have the case sealed, though this request was denied by a judge.

Following the plane incident, Jolie filed for divorce just days later, on September 19, 2016, citing the altercation as a catalyst for their separation. Although their divorce was finalized in 2019, the former couple has continued to face legal disputes, most notably over the ownership of Chateau Miraval, a vineyard in France.

Most recently, Pitt’s legal team criticized Jolie for allegedly seeking to reignite the legal conflict by requesting further communications regarding the 2016 incident. However, Jolie’s lawyer responded, emphasizing her desire for peace, stating, “Angelina again asks Mr. Pitt to end the fighting and put their family on a clear path toward healing.”
