Bollywood's power couple, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, have been delighting fans with their charming relationship ever since they tied the knot in 2017. Known for their magnetic presence, the duo has not only made headlines for their successful careers but also for their roles as doting parents to their two children, Vamika and Akaay.
Anushka recently returned to Mumbai for an event, where she opened up about her parenting journey and her creative methods for encouraging her daughter to eat healthily.
At the Slurrp Farm’s YES Moms & Dads event, Anushka Sharma shared some fascinating insights into her approach to her children's eating habits. Reflecting on the early years of parenting, she noted that it is relatively easy to control what toddlers eat, as they are less aware of the outside world and its temptations. She explained that during this phase, parents can create a protective bubble to shield their children from junk food. However, as children grow older, they become more curious and begin to notice the treats they have been kept from.
Anushka described this transition with her daughter Vamika, saying, “This was a hard one. Your kid is two, and if it is your firstborn, then it’s kind of easier because they haven’t been to that many birthday parties. They don’t know that cake exists and there is pizza in the world. You create this nice little bubble for them. You are fooling them well. And then they start seeing things; ‘Oh! Wait a minute, what is that woman not been showing me?’ So, I am going through that with my daughter.”
She humorously admitted that Vamika often reacts with a casual indifference, saying, “Whatever, just give it!” To combat this, Anushka has developed a playful strategy to make healthy eating sound appealing. She elaborated, “I make it sound more interesting than I am making it to you guys right now. But I feel like she doesn’t buy most of the times, she is like, ‘Whatever, just give it!’ I also pick days and give a very lengthy explanation, which I try to make fun. I bring out the actress in me…”
Through her creative storytelling and theatrical flair, Anushka Sharma is proving that parenting, like acting, requires a touch of performance and a lot of love.
