Satinder Pal Singh Saini, professionally known as Satinder Sartaaj, a name synonymous with soul-stirring Punjabi music, is celebrated for his poetic lyrics,  soulful singing, melodious compositions and sufi sensational songs, not only in Punjab but globally. Primarily known for his contribution to the Punjabi music industry, Satinder Sartaaj has established himself as an impressive artist with a unique blend of traditional and modern elements in his songs.  However, his artistic pursuits were not only limited to music alone. In the recent years, Sartaaj has expanded his creative boundary by stepping into the world of Punjabi cinema as well, where his varied talents continue to captivate audiences. Music Journey

Satinder Sartaaj's appearance into Punjabi cinema represents a spontaneous evolution for an artist whose storytelling ability has always been a central aspect of his music. Satinder has always been captivated by the melodies of sarangi and flutes, which ignited his passion for music. 

In 2009, he released his debut album, 'Tere Qurbaan', which unfortunately went unnoticed. However later in 2010, he released another album 'Sartaaj', which included the track 'Sai'  along with 'Nikki Jehi Kudi' and 'Filhaal Hawawan'. These songs resonated with the audiences and helped establish his musical reputation. 

Subsequently, he released various albums that gradually became a hit and was loved a lot by the audience as they were not only taken aback by the melody but also resonated with the lyrics. 

Debut in Film Industry

In 2017, Satinder Sartaaj made a notable mark on International cinema by portraying Maharaja Duleep Singh in the American film 'The Black Prince'. The film, which delves into the life of the last Maharaja of the Sikh Empire and his complex relationship with Queen Victoria, showcased Sartaaj's ability to bring historical figures to life with depth and authenticity. Transitioning to Punjabi cinema, Sartaaj made his debut in 2020 with the film 'Ikko Mikke'. This film's success marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his career, highlighting his seamless transition from international to regional cinema. His involvement in Punjabi films has flourished since then, highlighting his versatility as an artist. 

Continuing his momentum, Sartaaj starred in 'Kali Jotta', released in 2023, and 'Shayar', released in 2024. Both films have made a significant impact on audiences, captivating viewers with their memorable soundtracks and emotionally resonating storylines. Through these projects, Satinder Sartaaj has further cemented his place in Punjabi cinema, demonstrating his ability to engage and move audiences with his compelling performances and musical contributions.

With a huge fan following,  Sartaaj has been very selective in choosing the movies he works for. According to the reports, he read the script for his debut film, Ikko Mikke, about 90-92 times before saying yes to the film. He clarified that he wanted to do movies that had a contemporary storyline which relates with the youth.  On the other hand, the movie 'Kalli Jotta' starring Satinder Sartaaj and Neeru Bajwa went on to be a blockbuster. The duo reunited for their next film, 'Shayar,' released in 2024, where Satinder Sartaaj portrayed a poet—a role much closer to his own life. 

Upcoming Movie

The singer turned actor is now set to be back on the silver screen with his upcoming movie, 'Hoshiar Singh (Apna Arastu)', featuring Simi Chahal. The star cast and the makers of the movie had recently posted from the set of the making of the movie. Talking about the star cast of this movie, there will be Satinder Sartaaj and Simi Chahal playing lead roles opposite to each other. Apart from the leading duo, there will be B.N. Sharma, Rana Ranbir, Sardar Sohi, Malkeet Rauni, Sukhwinder Chahal and many more in the pivotal role. The story of this movie is penned by Jagdeep Warring, directed by Uday Pratap Singh while the movie will be presented by Omjee's Cine World and Sartaj Films.
