Actor Suniel Shetty's son, Ahan Shetty, has officially joined the star-studded cast of the highly anticipated war drama 'Border 2'. The film, directed by Anurag Singh, will mark a continuation of JP Dutta’s 1997 classic, Border, which remains one of Bollywood’s most iconic war films.
On Wednesday, Sunny Deol took to social media to welcome Ahan to the project, sharing a teaser that has ignited excitement among fans and film enthusiasts. “Welcoming Fauji Ahan Shetty to the Battalion of #Border2,” Deol captioned his post, generating a wave of support and intrigue around the new cast member.
The original Border became a cinematic milestone with its gripping portrayal of the India-Pakistan war, featuring a stellar ensemble cast, including Suniel Shetty, who delivered a memorable performance as Border Security Force Officer Bhairon Singh. Now, more than two decades later, Ahan Shetty is stepping into his father's shoes, continuing the legacy in a film that holds a special place in the hearts of Indian cinema lovers.
The announcement video adds to the emotional impact, showcasing a montage of Suniel Shetty’s images from Border while Ahan’s voiceover reflects the symbolic passing of the baton from father to son.
Ahan himself took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the opportunity. “Border is more than a film—it’s a legacy, an emotion, and a dream come true. Ironic how life works—my journey with Border started 29 years ago when my mom visited dad on set while pregnant with me,” Ahan shared. He further reminisced about growing up hearing stories from OP Dutta and his personal connection to the Border family, especially with JP Dutta and his daughter Nidhi Dutta. "Being part of Border 2 is an absolute honour," he added.
Ahan also acknowledged the immense privilege of sharing the screen with veterans like Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan. “Bhushan Sir, thank you for trusting me with this opportunity, I'm eternally grateful,” he expressed, adding how much he looks forward to working under Anurag Singh’s direction and alongside such esteemed actors. Ahan’s admiration for Dosanjh was palpable, as he said, “As a huge @diljitdosanjh fan, sharing the screen with him is surreal.”
The legacy-driven film, produced by Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta, is set to hit theatres in January 2026, promising to reignite the patriotic fervour that made the original Border a timeless classic. Fans are eagerly awaiting the new chapter in this iconic franchise, with high expectations for Ahan Shetty as he embarks on his cinematic journey.
