World Animal Welfare Day is celebrated on October 4 every year, to raise awareness about animal welfare, compassion and the importance of animal rights. This day reminds us that not only pets but wildlife and farm animals also deserve protection, care and love.

Pets hold a special place in our lives, and not just in cinema but also through the actions of many well-known celebrities who we have seen playing with their pets while indulging into social work for the protection of animals, their dedication truly reflects their status as animal lovers.

Let's delve into some stars who warmly include their pets as cherished family members and explore their endeavours beyond the silver screen.

  1. Sonam Bajwa is one of the most stunning beauties in the Pollywood industry and her social media photos never fails to captivate her fans . However, her authentic content would not be complete without her paw-tner in crime–Simba, aka 'SIMBURI' a nickname she has given to her handsome Golden Retriever. In many of her posts, he is seen posing elegantly.
  2. Nothing is more important in Sargun Mehta's life other than her current pet Moyo, alongside her family, friends and work. She has been a pet mother since her childhood, even as a kid she had a pet named 'Pebbles.' During the quarantine time, she shared a collage on social media showcasing 'Then and Now' photos of Pebbles and Moyo.
  3.  Ammy Virk's Siberian blue-eyed Barfi Virk is his most cute and adorable furry pal. In a few photos, the tiny fur ball is also seen posing towards the camera. He expanded his circle with four legs by welcoming this furry friend in his life in August 2020.

Apart from this, there are a few Bollywood stars who are not only pet parents but are also involved in social work and reforms for animal welfare. Let's have a look at a few B-town stars and their pets behind the screens.

  1. John Abraham has an adopted puppy named Sia and Baily. He has been vocal about urging individuals to stand against animal cruelty. He has also actively been participating in various campaigns promoting animal protection and awareness, such as the "Be Nice" Mercy for Animals, campaign.
  2. Anushka Sharma, is a vocal advocate for adopting stray animals. Alongside her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli, she has fostered and adopted several dogs, using her platform to encourage others to do the same.
  3.  Randeep Hooda has been accustomed to having pets from a young age. Petting dogs and cats is common but he has five horses with meaningful names such as Ranji, Johnny, Walker, Simply Supreme, Rommel and Atillay, emphasising his personal connection with each one. The actor is a skilled horseman winning medals at the national level, especially riding his prized horse, "Dream Girl.

World Animal Welfare Day serves as a vital reminder of our collective responsibility to advocate for the well-being of all animals, from beloved pets to wildlife and farm animals. The heartfelt connections that these celebrities share with their pets highlight the importance of compassion and care in our lives. Their efforts extend beyond personal joy, as they actively engage in promoting animal welfare and encouraging others to do the same. By using their platforms to raise awareness, these stars inspire fans to recognize the value of every animal and take meaningful action to protect and cherish them. As we celebrate this day, let us remember that the love we extend to animals reflects our humanity, urging us all to be advocates for those who cannot speak for themselves.
