Filmmaker Anees Bazmee is gearing up for the much-anticipated release of his latest project, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, but the journey to Diwali 2024 hasn't been without its challenges. In a recent statement, Bazmee revealed the difficulties he faced while shooting the film, including a significant leg injury just days before filming began.
"One could say I shot the film sitting on one leg," the filmmaker joked. The injury, which occurred just a week or ten days before the start of the shoot, was serious enough that doctors advised him to rest for four to six months. However, with the film’s release date already announced for Diwali, Bazmee chose to push forward, determined not to delay production. "If I had delayed shooting, we would have missed the date," he explained.
Despite the pain and his need for rest, Bazmee was resolute. "I felt that staying at home would hinder my recovery, so I decided to continue working. My decision shocked everyone," he admitted. While the physical toll was significant, Bazmee completed more than half of the film while seated in a chair. "I was in a lot of pain, but we pushed through."
Vidya Balan’s Stellar Performance and Emotional Farewell
Bazmee also opened up about his experience working with Vidya Balan, who is reprising her iconic role as Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. "She is an amazing actor," he said during an interview with ANI. "In this film, I think she has worked very hard. I have always liked her work, but in this one, she has done such beautiful work that I’ve become a fan of hers all over again."
The filmmaker became emotional when discussing the final day of shooting with Balan. "It was such a beautiful atmosphere, and we had so much fun. When we were shooting on the last day, I got very emotional," he shared.
Why Kartik Aaryan Was the Perfect Fit for the Franchise
Kartik Aaryan, who first joined the franchise in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, returns as Rooh Baba, a ghost hunter who confronts Manjulika once again. Anees Bazmee revealed that Aaryan had always been his choice for the role. "I had planned a film with Kartik before, and it didn’t materialize. When the producers suggested Kartik for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and now for the third instalment, I was very happy. The role suits him perfectly, and I believe the audience will love him even more in this one."
Thrilling Teaser and Poster Releases Build Hype
The makers recently released the highly anticipated teaser for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, marking the return of Vidya Balan’s iconic character, Manjulika. The teaser, which opens with the haunting melody of "Ami Je Tomar," brings back memories of Balan’s spine-chilling performance from the original 2007 film.
In a nod to the franchise's most memorable scenes, the teaser shows Manjulika lifting a heavy chair, screaming as she tries to break free from her confines. Kartik Aaryan’s character, Rooh Baba, makes a dramatic entrance, asking, "Kya Laga tha kahani Khatam hogayi?"
Before the teaser dropped, fans were treated to a haunting poster featuring a ghostly palace and a blood-stained door, further ramping up excitement for the film's Diwali release. In an Instagram post, Aaryan teased, "Rooh Baba Vs Manjulika...Iss Diwali #BhoolBhulaiyaa3. #YeDiwaliBhoolBhulaiyaaVaali."
As production wrapped, Aaryan shared a celebratory video of the cast and crew enjoying cake together, saying, "Arey pagalo...It’s a Wrap for #BhoolBhulaiyaa3. Haveli ka darwaza ek baar phir khulne ke liye taiyaar ho chuka hai...See you This Diwali."
Vidya Balan’s Return Ignites Excitement
Kartik Aaryan also took to social media to express his excitement about Vidya Balan’s return to the franchise. "And it’s happening. OG Manjulika is coming back to the world of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Super thrilled to welcome @balanvidya. This Diwali is going to be crackling! #BhoolBhulaiyaa3," he wrote.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 promises to blend psychological horror with comedy, delivering the thrills and chills the franchise is known for. With Bazmee’s determination, Vidya Balan’s gripping return, and Kartik Aaryan’s electrifying performance, audiences can expect a spine-tingling cinematic experience.
