Karwa Chauth is basically a traditional Hindu festival which has been a topic of debate in recent years. While many Bollywood celebrities enthusiastically participate in the ritual, others have chosen to opt out. Here are some Bollywood celebs who participate in the Karwa Chauth celebrations but do not observe the fasting rituals.
Sonam Kapoor
On her Instagram stories, Sonam shared some glimpses of gearing up for the celebrations, where she was seen applying henna and thanked her mother for helping her with all the arrangement. In another story she wrote, "I don't fast FYI, but I like the mehendi, dressing up and the food."
The reason why she doesn't't fast on Karwa Chauth is because she has been suffering from type-1 diabetes since the age of 17, which affects insulin production in her body and in a health condition like this, fasting can be potential risk.
Kareena Kapoor
Kareena Kapoor, who is married to actor Saif Ali Khan, also choses not to observe the fast for Karwa Chauth, as she feels she does not fully understand the festival's significance. She believes that her love for her husband transcends the act of fasting, emphasising that devotion and affection cannot be defined by ritual alone.
Twinkle Khanna
Twinkle Khanna, Akshay Kumar's wife, is well-known for her open-mindedness and sharp wit. She has also opted not to fast for her superstar husband, expressing her belief that the rationale behind fasting doesn’t resonate with her. Twinkle points out that one person going hungry cannot extend the life of another. Nevertheless, she makes it a point to spend this special day with her husband, focusing on love and togetherness rather than rituals.
She also addressed her critics who shamed her for commenting on Karwa Chauth, delivering a powerful response that left no room for doubt.
