Exciting news for 'Bridgerton' fans! Netflix has officially announced the commencement of filming for the much-anticipated fourth season of the popular period drama. On Monday, the streaming giant shared a thrilling first look at the new season on Instagram, featuring key cast members.

"Please rise for Sophie Baek & Benedict Bridgerton!!! Here's your first official photo of Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson on the set of Bridgerton Season 4. Now OFFICIALLY in production," Netflix posted, revealing a fresh chapter in the beloved series.

Yerin Ha, known for her role in 'Halo,' steps into the shoes of Sophie Baek, a maid with a mysterious past hidden behind both literal and figurative masks. Meanwhile, Luke Thompson returns as Benedict Bridgerton, the second-eldest Bridgerton sibling.

Discussing her role, Ha shared her enthusiasm for the complex character of Sophie. “What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome. Whether it's the battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict," Ha remarked, giving fans a glimpse of the emotional depth her character will bring to the screen.

Benedict’s storyline promises intrigue as he struggles with his bachelorhood—until he crosses paths with a captivating 'Lady in Silver' at a masquerade ball hosted by his mother. As fans of the book series will know, the mysterious lady is none other than Sophie, setting the stage for a romantic yet dramatic arc between the two.

Season three of 'Bridgerton,' which aired earlier this year, centred around the love story of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton (fondly referred to as “Polin” by fans) and broke records as one of Netflix's most-watched shows. The upcoming fourth season, however, will likely keep audiences waiting, as showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed a two-year gap before its release.

“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film, and then they have to be edited and dubbed into various languages,” Brownell explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “The writing takes a very long time as well, so we're kind of on a two-year pace. We’re trying to speed up, but it’s somewhere in that range."

Season 4 is slated to feature eight episodes and promises a fresh set of captivating love stories, drama, and social intrigue. Produced by Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland and adapted from Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, the show also stars Claudia Jessie, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, and Ruth Gemmell, ensuring that Bridgerton fans will have plenty to look forward to in this next chapter.
