Indian stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das is all set to host the prestigious 2024 International Emmy Awards. The announcement came from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the comedian's career.
Vir Das To Host Internation Emmy Awards
Sharing the news with his fans on Instagram, Vir Das expressed his excitement: "Thanks to your support, an Indian Emmy Host! I can't wait to host the @iemmys this year! Crazy. Thank you for having me. Tremendously honoured and excited!" he wrote, showcasing his enthusiasm for this incredible opportunity.
Vir Das is no stranger to the International Emmys, having been previously nominated in 2021 for his special Vir Das: For India and winning in 2023 for his Netflix special Landing. His current Mind Fool tour has been receiving international acclaim, further solidifying his global presence in the entertainment industry.
This achievement also makes Vir Das the first Indian to host the International Emmys, a groundbreaking moment for Indian entertainers on the world stage.
Apart from his stand-up career, Das has made a mark as an actor, producer, and creator. He has worked on several television series, including ABC's Whiskey Cavalier, Netflix's Hasmukh, and Amazon Prime Video's Jestination Unknown. He also appeared in Judd Apatow's The Bubble and is currently developing a single-camera comedy with CBS Studios and actor Andy Samberg.
In addition to his on-screen work, Vir Das is also the lead singer of India's comedy-rock band, Alien Chutney, known for blending humor and music in unique ways.

Vir Das began his career in stand-up comedy, performing at various venues in India and around the world. His breakthrough came with a mix of successful stand-up specials, live performances, and memorable roles in Bollywood films such as Delhi Belly, Go Goa Gone, and Badmaash Company.
His global reach expanded through Netflix comedy specials, including Vir Das: Abroad Understanding, Vir Das: For India, and Landing, which have earned him critical acclaim and multiple International Emmy nominations. His 2023 win for Landing in the International Emmy Award for Comedy category marked a crowning achievement in his career, positioning him as one of the most recognized figures in international comedy.
A Global Celebration of Television
The 2024 International Emmy Awards will be held on November 25 in New York City, where Das will take the stage to honor the best in global television. As the first Indian host of the event, his presence symbolizes the increasing prominence of Indian talent in international entertainment.
