Bollywood icon and Shiv Sena leader Govinda had a close call early Tuesday morning after accidentally shooting himself in the leg at his Mumbai residence. The incident, which took place around 4:45 am, occurred when Govinda's licensed revolver misfired while he was putting it back in the cupboard. Fortunately, the actor is now stable following emergency surgery to remove the bullet.
In an audio message shared by Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) member Krishna Hegde, Govinda reassured his fans about his condition. He said, "With the blessings of you all and my parents, the bullet has been removed. I thank the doctors and you for keeping me in your prayers."
According to Mumbai Police, Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata when the revolver accidentally slipped from his hand, resulting in the injury. His manager, Shashi Sinha, confirmed the details, saying, "Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licensed revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped, and the gun went off, hitting him in the leg. The bullet has been removed, and his condition is stable."
Though the injury was not severe, Govinda was admitted to the hospital as a precaution. A Mumbai Police official confirmed that the actor is expected to recover fully soon.
