Karan Johar known for his attractive wit and creativity, is always in demand by every big shot whenever they want to host any award shows, weddings, chat shows or book launches. Once again he is roped into hosting the Move for Cancer Awareness (MCan) Charity Gala, an initiative by fashion designer-philanthropist Maheka Mirpuri.
Over the last 11 years, the foundation has helped over 2,500 patients battling head and neck cancer. They have successfully raised approximately Rs 10 crore and contributed it to Tata Memorial Hospital.
The cancer awareness cause is very personal to Karan Johar as he lost his father, Yash Johar to cancer in 2004. He shared, that this endeavour has been more massive and emotional to him due to the loss of his father, and since then he has also been supporting the cause silently. He added, "There is nothing greater than sharing space with the Tata Memorial doctors who do a wonderful job of saving lives. My gratitude to them."
In a statement to the media about the fundraiser, Mirpuri emphasised that all funds collected are directly donated to the hospital, highlighting the initiative's transparency. "I consider myself merely a medium," she said. Talking about the tenth edition of the event, she added, "The last time Karan hosted the event, he created magic, helping us raise an incredible amount. This year, we hope to double the impact."
